Air Force major claims alien was killed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst
This apparently happened back in 1978 at Fort Dix. Ret. Major Guerra says that a bipedal creature, described as about 4 feet in height and grayish-brown in color, with a “fat head, long arms and slender body,” was shot to death with five rounds fired from a service member’s .45-caliber (military issue M1911A1) handgun.
Now, I'm always a little skeptical when stories of this caliber coincide with a new book release but the story is pretty interesting regardless.
UFOs

Strange light captured flying over Jackson Hole
The article is from a local Wyoming news source. The video is from a Jackson Hole resident that shot this footage in the early hours.
Often, videos of these sorts are explain as meteors or other cosmic debris falling to Earth. However, three separate astronomers ruled that out — it’s too bright, it moved way too slowly, and meteors leave a streak in their wake.

Kaikoura lights - Wikipedia
A crazy incident reported by Australian cargo airplane pilots in 1978. The craft were seen on both the air traffic controller radar and the on-board radar of the cargo plane. One of the official explanations: lights reflecting off the clouds from squid boats -- sure.
"Some people say that they could see some little disks drop from the UFO and then disappear (they were never found). The pilots described some of the lights to be the size of a house and others small but flashing brilliantly."
Disclosure

Navy withholding data on UFO sightings, congressman says
Rep. Mark Walker of North Carolina is fighting for the release of information pertaining the USS Nimitz incident (discussed in Issue 1).
Seeing a politician fight in the public light on behalf of disclosure is a welcome change of pace. I'll be following this story closely to see how it pans out.

Americans Skeptical of UFOs, but Say Government Knows More
No big surprise here. But interesting to see some numbers around the subject. 33% of Americans believe that UFOs are some sort of Alien craft -- which is a higher percentage than I expected to see.
Urban Legends

Bunny-Man Bridge
A new topic for Aliens Among Us: Urban Legends.
I've never heard of the Bunny-Man bridge until just recently but found the story to be pretty spooky. Urban legends have always been something I find interesting -- whether they're rooted in reality or not, the notion of oral spooky stories will always grab my attention.
Abductions

The Betty Andreasson Encounter Alien Abduction
A seminal abduction case that happened way back in 1967 and remains unexplained to this day.
Betty was taken from her kitchen one night and her family was put in a state of suspended animation until after she returned -- some 4 hours after her initial disappearance.
